Jesus Heals a Centurions Servant
Interwoven Gospels

Now when Jesus came down from the mountain, after He had finished all His sayings in the hearing of the people, great multitudes followed Him. And He entered into Capernaum. But as He was entering into Capernaum, a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick and was about to die. And having heard about Jesus, the centurion sent to Him elders of the Jews, requesting Him and beseeching Him that He would come and save his servant, saying, "Lord, my servant lieth in the house paralyzed, grievously tormented." Then they, having come to Jesus, besought Him earnestly, saying, "He is worthy that Thou do this for him; for he loveth our nation, and he has built the synagogue for us." Then Jesus went with them, saying, "I will come and heal him." But when He was now not far distant from the house, the centurion sent to Him friends, saying to Him, "Lord, trouble not Thyself; for I am not worthy that Thou shouldst come under my roof. Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come to Thee; but only command by word, and let my servant be healed. For I also am a man appointed under authority, having under myself soldiers: and I say to this one, 'Go,' and he goeth; and to another, 'Come,' and he cometh; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he doeth it." Then Jesus, hearing these things, wondered at him; and turning to the multitude following Him, said, "Verily, I say to you, not even in Israel have I found so great faith. Moreover I say to you, that many from the east and the west will come and recline with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven; but the sons of the kingdom shall be cast out into the outer darkness: there will be weeping and gnashing of the teeth." And Jesus said to the messengers of the centurion, "Go, and as he hath believed, so be it done to him." And the servant was healed in that hour. And they that were sent, having returned to the house, found the servant well.
