The Visit of the Shepherds
Interwoven Gospels

Now there were shepherds in the same country abiding in the field and keeping watch by night over their flock. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood by them and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they feared with great fear. And the angel said to them, "Fear not; for, behold, I proclaim glad tidings of great joy to you, which shall be so to all the people; for there was born to you today, in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this shall be the sign to you: ye shall find the babe, wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger."

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying,

"Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, Good pleasure in men." And it came to pass, as soon as the angels departed from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Come, let us go even unto Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord hath made known to us."

And making haste, they came and found both Joseph and Mary, and the Babe lying in the manger. And having seen Him, they made known concerning the word which was spoken to them concerning this little Child. And all who heard wondered at the things told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept in mind all these sayings, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, even as it was told them.
